The Peeling method
Peeling means the removal of older skin dead cells and the renewing of it by replacing it with new skin cells. With a cell replacement you are going to get a softer and firmer skin. For example creases disappear and you get a real young skin. We put acid onto the treated surface area. The kind of the used acid, the dosage and the application time affect the grade of the value.
We offer these medical peelings:
- The surface peeling with Glycol-Acid or fruit-acid (Alphahydroxy-sourness - AHA)
- A deeper peeling with trichlor-vinegar-acid (TCA)
Disturbing creases, acne scares or pigmentation are typical indications for a peeling with glykol-acid or trichlor-vinegar-acid. Acid is carefully applied at the correct concentration under standardized conditions. The indication, skin condition and the body location determine which method of the peeling is used.
Who is a candidate for a peeling?
Women and men with acne, with impure skin and/or acne scars or other surface area scars.
If laser therapy have not been successful, we can treat pigmentation on the skin, especially age spots on the arms, hands, neck line and on the face. We use this method in cases of skin-ageing and in cases of skin damaged by light and sun. After surgical face- and lid-lifting or in combination with aesthetic therapies (laser, Botox or extruding creases etc.) a special peeling enhances positive effects, to help create a younger look.
The consultation
We discuss your desires and wishes and possible restrictions. Afterwards the exact treatment of the skin structure is evaluated and documented by taking some photographs. We also speak to you about other or complementary therapy opportunities.
How does peeling work?
After a thorough cleaning, we put the liquid substances onto the skin of the face. On average it takes about 15 minutes. This session happens in an ambulant treatment. In some cases you possibly need some drugs against the pain during the first hours.
In the first days after the treatment there is some tissue left in the scope of the replacement and the healing, you also can get some crusts and blisters. A small swelling, especially in the eye area, is possible. These side effects are very rare. The used methods reduce the side marks to a minimum.
After the peeling
The surface peeling with Glycol Acid (AHA) calculates with a short, cosmetic skin influence - but this does not apply in every case. You will be given individual instructions and appointments to control the result. After the peeling with Trichlor-Vinegar-Acid you should follow closely these instructions:
- You mustn’t pull or scratch the peeled skin
- You should avoid mechanical exposure
- Smoking can cause negative effects
- Face Massages and intensive sports activities (f.e. jogging, tennis,) have negative effects on the healing and should be avoided
- shampoo should not have contact with the treated skin
- During the healing time please don`t use make up, except the doctor gives permission to use some selected beauty products
- Very important is protection from strong light (for 3 months) to avoid pigment changes
- Please do not take baths
A final result should be evaluated after 2-3 months.
In most cases you need more than one session. It is a personal decision as to when you feel you have reached your personal aim.
