Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis- what’s that?
Sweating is a natural process to regulate the body temperature. It is controlled by the nervous system. 1-2 % of the human population suffer from an over-reacting nervous-stimulation, this means that these nerves react independantly to the given temperature. These people suffer from an excessive perspiration. This problem is called “Hyperhidrosis”.

The Hyperhidrosis can occur all over the body. But more often it is a special problem at a certain area of the body, such as the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet, the armpit or the forehead. In general the condition start and stays for the rest of your life. In the case of a second-degree Hyperhidrosis, excessive sweat production can be the result of another illness, of a special drug or menopause.

Treatment options
Hyperhidrosis is not only irritating, you also take a stigma and an undesirable blemish. Nowadays there is a wide spectrum of possible treatments. Depending on the kind and degree of the condition, we can work on different therapies ranging on an application of aluminum-and salt-creme, to lontophoresis, a special technique whereby the effected areas are submerged in water and an electric current applied.

A good result can be achieved by using Botolinumtoxin (Botox), especially for the Hyperhidrosis of the armpit, the hands and at the soles of the feet. Treatment with Botoliumtoxin is covered by most insurance. For a long-lasting result it is possible to remove the perspiratory glands.
